What is Medicare ?

Medicare is the United State’s medical program for citizens 65 years or older or those with disabilities. In order to qualify for Medicare a U.S. citizen needs to be either:

• Over 65 years of age
• Disabled or qualify for disability
• Have worked in a Medicare covered employment position or have a spouse which meets the same criteria

Medicare is a federal program that is paid for by federal taxes and social security. Some individuals confuse Medicaid with Medicare. Medicaid is a state run medical service which has differing criteria based on which state you are a residence in. It is possible to qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid.
Medicare serves as an alternative to private insurance and gives an individual many benefits including the possibility of a no cost power wheelchair.

Getting a power wheelchair through Medicare

Getting a power wheelchair through Medicare is an easy process with the assistance of WheelchairForMe. WheelchairForMe will handle all of the interactions with Medicare for you, just follow these simple steps:

1.Contact WheelchairForMe by either filling out our prequalification form or calling 877-359-2922 toll free. A WheelchairForMe mobility consultant will match you with a power wheelchair provider that will bring you through the Medicare approval process.

2. A WheelchairForMe power wheelchair provider will take your information and pre-qualify you for a power wheelchair. They will then ask you to go to your physician to have them ensure you medically need a power wheelchair.

3.Your physician needs to fill out your diagnosis in full as described in the documentation he will receive from your WheelchairForMe power wheelchair provider. Many doctors are not excited about filling out this paperwork as it takes up their time, but without it you will not be able to legally receive your power wheelchair from Medicare. It is essential that you work with your physician to ensure that they do so.

4.Once your paperwork is filled out and Medicare has approved it your WheelchairForMe power wheelchair provider will send you your new power wheelchair. When it is delivered you will be walked through how it works and the delivery team will make sure you are comfortable with it.

5.The next step is up to you as you enjoy your new mobile life!!!
